I was chatting with my taxi driver home this evening and when he asked how much money I was making in Africa teaching I told him "Nothing, I was volunteering."  He got confused, "Nothing? You mean one million?"  "No, zero.  I was there to help the community, not to make money."  He didn't speak after that for about 5 minutes. I watched his face in the rearview mirror and I really don't think I'd ever seen anyone try so hard to grasp a concept they don't understand. In the end he moved on an didn't ask about it again- I think he brain hurt from the wheels turning.  It was an interesting experience.
